| My little girls best friend is moving away and she will be missed for sure. I am finding myself remembering the song 'help you say goodbye' by the beautiful Patty Loveless (side note does her last name mean that she will be forever loveless?). She cried that next morning and I wasn't sure exactly what I should do about it. I always tell her to be tough because life is hard and I want to prepare her for what is to come however in this instance I don't want her to be hardened by life. So I explained to her that it is ok to be sad however life surprises us all and she has many other friends at her school. I reminded her that one day we will be moving and she will be moving away from all her friends just like her friend is now and this day is just helping her to prepare for that day in the future and the better she understands how she is feeling the better she will be able to deal with the heartache. On the plus side we had a huge pool party for the going away party something that all the kids will remember for the rest of their lives. |
